I think)his mother died giving birth and his dad gave him to Mrs.Smith to raise. When they came for him years later she wouldn't give him back-we became Smiths. They lived: I still had some relatives near Listwall so I am under the impression this took place near there. Guessing 1850s?? My dad's name was Robert Ross Smith and he hailed from Shoal Lake Mb. He died in 2006 at the age of 92. Comments: I have always wanted to know the lineage of my family but now fear I will never know as both my folks have passed on. My wife would far rather be a Rose than a Smith (haha). Also it would make checking into a hotel easier.
