How did you locate my website? I was looking for Cup collectors
Where are you located (city/state)? Piracicaba, Sao Paulo (Brazil)
What is your favorite tea?
Comments: Hi ...
I am a brazilian cups collector and I want to share with you my blog about the colletion:
www.sohxicaras.blogspot.com

I'm sorry but it is written in portuguese and probably you don't read portuguese. The blog is named "Only cups".
I'm enclosing the english translation of the presentation of the blog and the first post, so you can understand me.
In Brazil we drink coffee in little cups (cups smaller than those of tea). We use mugs too, but I collect only cups. Our coffee is stronger than that you use in USA. Forgive me for my english (may be you will find many mistakes).
Please, come to visit my blog and left a comment in there.

Presentantion

This is the place where I'll put everything that I will think is interesting and which contains the theme of my collection of cups. You can find here, besides pictures of pieces from my collection: stamps, phone cards, bookmarks, poems, text (or extracts) from known authors (and others not so well known), information about the production and sale of cups, paintings, etc.. Most of the texts cited here is taken from various internet sites and I always try to put all the credits. If someone does not want his writing to be here just let me know by e-mail that it will be immediately removed.
Come visit me and comment, please.

My collection of cups

Some people like to collect things: stamps, bottle caps, figurines, penguins refrigerator, carts, miniature, cups, etc.. etc.. etc.. But the cool thing to collect is not only the difficult to get that little figure, a hard rare edition of a book that nobody else has, it is to show, display to other people these small valuables.

I collect cups. In the past 31 years I have gathered cups of coffee, tea or chocolate and have more than 350 today. If we consider the saucers are about 700 pieces, for 99% of them are accompanied by their respective.
I started collecting cups by chance. In late 1970 a neighbor, Fatima, gave me a cup of coffee of Japanese origin who had been of her mother and was the last of a coffee set used at home when she was a teenager. It was a kind gesture and I kept it carefully for some time. One day a friend asked me what I wanted to win on my birthday and, without much thought, I replied, "cups, I collect”. Today I have several Japanese cups, some very similar to that No. 1, but that one is special, it is the precious of my collection.

At first I only wanted to collect coffee cups, but I won a few cups of tea and they were so beautiful that I decided to collect the two models. I've had more pieces, but I decided, three years ago, let go of the cups emblazoned with advertising and staying only with each other. Thus, I gave them to a friend who took them to his apartment on the beach, where they are used in everyday life. I worked for 34 years at a university and colleagues knew from my collection, so that when they went somewhere and saw a different cup, brought me and the collection was flushing, with pieces of several countries (there are now over 20 represented) and many places in Brazil.

When we traveled, I was always seeking to know the antique shops, where I could find different cups. Once, in Lucerne (Switzerland) I found a little door where there were many old things, mixed, dusty and, in the back of a shelf, a cup. The old lady who ran the store, seeing that I was a tourist, once asked a high price for that single cup that was in its collection. I had a great time haggling until I could buy it for a price well below the originally requested.

I had no idea how much people are impressed with the collection, which is well protected in a cabinet with doors and glass shelves in my dinning room, until I received from the daughter of a friend married to a German who lives in Darmstadt a box containing 7 cups white, with gilt, with the brand CT (Tielsch, Altwasser) Germany. With obvious signs of use, two of them had small cracks in the edge. Together, a note: "Mrs. Irene, I thought you would be the only person that would preserve these cups of destruction. They belong to a set of dishes and cups that the grandmother of my husband loaded when running from one place to another in Germany during World War 2. The plates and saucers were broken ... the cups survived and I want them to be with you. "

Besides having its own history, the cups of my collection are just part of my story because I remember happy times, places, stories, loved ones (my brothers, sisters-in-law and nephews are great providers of the collection).

How did you locate my website? Browsing the web for tea cup collectors who do so because they love all aspects of the "tea" experience.
Where are you located (city/state)? Washington, DC
What is your favorite tea?
Comments: Hello.

My beloved mother passed away on Valentine's Day (2008). My brother, sister and I inherited her house and have lovingly moved all of the furniture and other treasured items into our own homes.

While we love her small tea cup collection, we would rather have it appreciated by someone who knows more about (and therefore truly appreciates) the art and joy of tea cup collection.
Her collection is small – 8 cups and saucers. All are in perfect condition. If you (or others who visit this website) would like to learn more, I am happy to share specific details about each tea cup and saucer, including the manufacturer, photographs, and all identifying information found on the bottom of each one.
My e-mail address is pegn@rcn.com. I live in Washington DC.

Comments: A wonderful tea spot is in Wilmington, NC. I'll have to look up the name, but it serves a "proper English tea," which was delicious!
