The Collie, along with his descendant the Border Collie, are Number 1. But, any list that has them so far down on a list doesn't amount to much. I don't think highly of Stanley Coren's joke of The World's Smartest Breed tests. If he truly knew Collies, he would know they are a THINKING breed, and that none are smarter. Once you've have such a smart breed, none other will do. The breed as a rule is super smart. Am tired of the lame "Collies are dumb because they have narrow heads" baloney. Granted, I prefer a more moderate head and do not care for extremes. But, they should not have excessively long, narrow heads. AND, they are still bred for intelligence, trustworthiness, easy-to-live-with style, as well as versatility, AND as opposed to BCs, they know when to settle. BCs are obsessive-compulsive, whereas the Collie is more sensible and doesn't let his instincts over-ride his intelligence and reasoning.
