Comments: Great website. My grandfather, George Perry, was born in South Petherton in 1891. He sailed to the Falkland Islands on the ss Oravia in 1912 and died there in 1963. I would love to know why he went to the Falklands, and if there are any of his relatives still in South Petherton. His parents were Hugh and Jane Perry. Also, is there a memorial naming South Petherton soldiers killed in WW1?

Comments: ACCOMMODATION REQUIRED

South Petherton Cricket Club once again require accomodation for their overseas player during the 2009 season (May - September)

We are ideally looking for a bedroom to accommodate him with access to a bathroom and kitchen.

Anything would be considered at a decent rent.

We can pay reasonable rent and he will supply his own food (unless the landlords would like to feed him but we wouldn't expect it)

The club have previously had Indian overseas players stay in the village and the arrangements have always been beneficial to all parties. This season we hope to offer the opportunity for another young Indian player to come to the UK and play cricket.

If anyone thinks they may be able to help please email Tom Balch at tommybalch@hotmail.com to discuss further.
