In PA, there is a Confederate soldier buried in the ring of honor surrounded by his former enemy's dead. His first tombstone was paid for by Union Vets and the Yanks still place a Confederate flag on his grave each Memorial Day. This war was like no other and it ended like no other so it cannot be compared to any other war. It is what it is and those who have ancestors that fought for the South should have the right to honor those men as the the Yanks have the right to honor their dead. The end of the war only proved that if you outnumber someone four to one and are better equipped you can win. It did not prove the Union to be correct or the South wrong. Might does not make right. Indeed, the battle cry of state's right and indivdual liberty still rings out today because the issues have never been resolved and most likely never shall until Christ returns. In a land of liberty, each may feel how they wish about the flags and the war and teach their version. Those who preach tolerance are usually the most intolerant of this age. When a Yank see the flag, he can tell his son, "Yep, your great grandpa helped whip them Rebs." A Southerner can say, "Your great grandpa fought for a lost cause but it was a just cause." A Black man may say that the Confederate flag flew over a slave nation but if he is honest he must say the same about the Union flag. That Union flag also committed acts of genocide against the Native American and kept the military segregated until 1959. A Black man may say that his ancestor volunteered to fight for the North or some may say that they were forced to fight. Some fought for the South as defending their own homeland and glady served with their Master. Everyone should read the Slave Chronicles that were done in the 1930's. A much different picture is painted then some would paint today. All that is history and real history cannot be changed. Revisionists may try and others seek to hide the truth but truth always prevails in the end. Take your side. Defend your beliefs, but allow others to do the same. God will ultimately vindicate the righteous and punish the guilty. God save the South and anyone else that will listen.

Airy, NC Comments: American by choice, Southern by the grace of God. My great great grandfather was the last surviving confederate soldier from Surry County North Carolina when he died in Surry County. People think that the flag stands for hate and such. But if not mistaken the ship that picked up slaves did not fly the confederate flag on it. From what I gathered even president Lincoln had slaves. You are always going to have those that think the flag stands for this and that. Nothing we say is going to change thier mind. So as long what we think that the flag stands for is true and honest in our hearts, then that is all that should matter. That is what our fathers of the past and the soldiers of today fight for. The right to think and say what you want...your choice and right. But I believe that the right you are fighting for is a just cause. Keep up the work and God bless.
