Thursday 05/24/2001 12:59:42am Name: will nolan E-Mail: raversurf@aol.com Homepage Title: Homepage URL: Referred By: Search Engine Location: unknown Comments: you're close, but you're looking at the problam too broadly (time-wise). instead of stating the status of human metamorphis as being 1. not understanding 2.ignorance 3.destruction, you should look at it like this. the ingorance and self destruction come from one thing, technology (which is vessel we use to overcome not-understanding) The answer to your question on metamorphis is very simple. after we overcome "not knowing" via technology, what comes next is decided by how much we have evolved socialy. if a society evolves technologcally faster than it does socialy, then they have their own destruction in store for them. for example, let's say you give a 4 year old child a load automatic weapon before he goes to school (ie. someone who hasn't evolved socialy enough to fully comprehed the technology they have at their desposal), that child may shoot the first kid that insults him on the playground. to bring that analogy up a notch, say for instance a society gains a good understanding of physics and science. then that society learns that matter and energy are fundamently the same (ie. matter is compresed energy). what that society decides that information can be used for can tell you if they have developed socially enough to survive self destruction. if that society for example says "hey, i bet i can make a really powerful bomb as a result of this discovery" , as humans did, then you can safely assume that society hasn't evolved socially enough to handle what we know and have at our disposal. however, thats not the only route. a society could also see the rising energy crisis and say "i could take 1 atom , and convert it into pure energy , as the atom bomb does, but instead of causing destruction, i could solve energy problems for human beings for eternity". yet, in our society, humans that is, we have already discovered that information. and we have already used it for destruction. AND we are approaching an energy crisis. the result? destruction of our own creations (atom bomb) and destruction of other beings (drilling in alaska or ecosystem we destry in order to build more...shit). so the answer to the metamporphis question? deveolpe socially equally as fast as you do technologicaly and you will survive. just don't be the 4 year old with the loaded gun, or a society that has the answers to all their problems right in front of their face, yet they use solution only for more destruction. email me if you have any questions because i didn't proofread this, i haven't slept for days, and i worked all day today so i'm sure i probably may have come across unclear or something. thanks.
