Cindy,my heart goes out to you...no mother should ever have to experience what you have...I have been a paramedic for over 10 years and it never gets any easier to have to give a family the same news you were given...I want to tell you that reading your son's story has really lifted me up in so many ways...very soon after I became a paramedic, I was diagnosed with a dibiliatating disease...I still maintained, as long as I could,my job, but last year, I was retired...about 6 months before I went into retirement, I became a deputy, also...This has been a pretty bad year for our family...we have lost almost everything due to my retirement, and my husband is a combat disabled veteran..(Iraq).I've picked up a some nasty complications from my disease and sometimes I wonder what else life is going to throw at me...but, reading Beau's story, made me want to fight even harder to get better....so that I can get right back out there and take theses people off the streets, before they have a chance to hurt families like yours...reading stories like yours makes me realize that we have a very long way to go and I have a lot more work to do!! Cindy, I will get back out there and do my job...for Beau...and for all the other kids who didn't make it home...and now, for my son, also, he will start high school next year and is already driving...I want him to read Beau's page and know that Beau was a real kid, just like he is, maybe a few years older, but pretty much the same...so, from one mother to another, thank you so very much for sharing Beau's story, for having the courage to make this page, I know the pain made it extremely hard...I know because having a son isn't the only thing we have in common...I had a daughter, too...thank you, again, for what you have done....please, contact me if you have a some free time, I would really love to know how you and your family are doing....and how you are learning to get through the grief...it's been 13 years for me, and I don't think I've even started to yet....you can email me anytime at the addy above...many hugs, Meredeth....

It's strange to think that almost 10 years later, I still cry every time I look at this site. Not a day goes by that I don't think of you. I love and miss you Beau. <33

FRIENDS WITHOUT FACES
We sit and we type, and we stare at our screens
We all have to wonder, what this possibly means.
With our mouse we roam, through the rooms in a maze
Looking for something or someone, as we with in a daze.
We chat with each other, we type all our woes
Small groups we do form, and gang up on our foes.
We wait for somebody, to type out our name.
We want recognition, but it is always the same.
We give kisses and hugs, and sometimes flirt.
In PM's we chat deeply, and reveal why we hurt.
We do form friendships - but - how, we don't know
But some of these friendships, will flourish and grow.
Why is it on screen that we can be so bold
Telling our secrets, that have never been told.
Why is it we share the thought in our mind
With those we can't see, as though we were blind.
The answer is simple, it is as clear as a bell.
We all have our problems, and need someone to tell.
We can't tell real people, but tell someone we must,
So we turn to the 'puter, and to those we can trust.
Even though it is crazy, the truth still remains
They are Friends Without Faces, and odd little names.

I am a police officer with the City of Saraland, Al. I conduct several Victim Impact Panels for Saraland and Mobile court systeems. I talk to people who are sentenced for alcohol and drug offenses. I would like to use your son's story for my lectures. Thanks and I am sorry for your loss. Leroy
