I read article in Monroe Newtar about Bonnie & Clyde. You are seriously incorrect about their backgrounds & owe their families an apology. I lived in Mesquite,Tex for many yrs across the street from her baby sister. The Parkers were from a little community just east of Dallas, the father was a minister of a small congregation & farmed. Her family sued the movie co. for depicting the family as trash. They were poor but honest country people. As for Clyde Barrow, he grew up in west Dallas when it was far out of the city. I have heard many people talk about Mr. Barrow owning a small country store during the war yrs & gave food & kerosene or other supplies to people who couldn't afford it. I worked with a man who grew up in that community & he said his mother used to go @ night to get kerosene for lamps, Mr. Barrow would leave the pump open for her & they would leave a nickel or dime in a box if they had it. Most of the time, they didn't have it & went when it was dark because they were proud. And you said that Bonnie & Clyde came from SLUMS! Your implication was way wrong & misleading. Please don't imply that about decent hard working country folks. |
