Comments: My husband was stationed in La Maddalena from 77-79, it was the most fantastic adventure of my life. The people of the Navy and the islanders were so friendly. Living the life of an islander was simple and so easy going, such beauty on, around and in the water there. I loved it and would really like to return some day.

Comments: Loved your web page and pictures. I was stationed at the Branch Dental Clinic from 87-89. La Madd was my favorite duty station. My son was born in Naples. The pictures you have bring back many great memories. I sure do miss the pizza.

Comments: I was a member of the original crew that first opened the base on St. Stephano, aboard the Howard W. Gilmore in 1973. We took Seabees and heavy equipment on ship to build the base. Also, family members went over with us. I was there 2 years as a Data Procesing Tech and lived in an apartment called the Flathouse. I would love to go back to visit. Beautiful place.

Comments: I was stationed on the USS Orion AS-18 81-84. I loved that La Maddalena, I would walked that Island so many times hopping one day that I would return and live there. I truely appreciated her beauty and the people there. My shipmates as well. We swam from mushroom rock to club med only to kicked off and swim back. Loved it.

Comments: I found your website today when I was looking for pictures of Sardegnia. I lived there with my mom and dad when he was stationed there on the USS Gilmore and then the Orion from 1979 to 1981. I went to school on La Madd, and we rented a house in San Pasquale. As you can imagine it was quite a long commute for me to get to school every day! (bus, ferry and another bus)
I liked seeing your photos and travelling down memory lane.
