Here's a story I thought of after Fr John's sermon the other week:
An Atherton bloke dies and goes to heaven. Of course, St. Peter meets him at the pearly gates. St. Peter says, "Here's how it works. You need 100 points to make it into heaven. You tell me all the good things you've done, and I give you a certain number of points for each deed, depending on how good it was. When you reach 100 points, you get in."
"Okay," the man says, "I was married to the same woman for 50 years and never unfaithful to her, even in my heart."
"That's wonderful," says St. Peter, "that's worth three points!"
"Three points?" he says. "Well, I attended Sacred Heart church all my life and supported the parish with donations and service."
"Terrific!" says St. Peter, "that's certainly worth a point."
"One point? Flippin 'eck!. How about this: I started a soup kitchen in the town centre and worked in a shelter for homeless people."
"Fantastic, that's good for two more points," he says.
"TWO LOUSY POINTS!" the man cries, "At this rate the only way I'll get into heaven is by the grace of God!"
"Come on in!"

I wish to congratulate you on an excellent website. Michael, April, RC3 and I have very much enjoyed listening to Fünklein on the new Dolby 9.1 surround sound system in the semi-trailer truck.
Inspired by "Wanderlust River", Kitt (at his own request) has been refitted with a bio-ethanol engine, to reduce his environmental "tyre-print".
Anyway, on behalf of the Foundation for Law And Government, I wish you all the very best.
We stand united in the fight against crime and struggle for freedom from environmental pollution and stress in Atherton and Las Vegas!
Keep up the good work because you are the BEST!!!
God Bless,
Devon

What about podcasting Fr John's sermons? Then the likes of my auntie Joan could listen. She loves Sacred Heart but she's 87 years old and can't make it because she's moved to Earlstown and the buses don't run so often on a Sunday and it's expensive going by taxi.
Think about it!

When I heard that Fr Conor was going, I was sad. He did a great job of lifting and inspiring us. But now Fr John has settled in and is doing a great job too as our parish priest. We are lucky to have him and I hope he feels welcome.
I remember the old days at Sacred Heart when the church was packed every Sunday. Not so many people come today. Some can't come but most just can't be bothered. They'd rather go shopping or look at TV.
Fine, if that's how they want to live, but to me it's just stagnating, not living.
I love my church and as long as I can get about, I'll never stop attending. When I lie on my death-bed and look back over my life, I may regret a lot, but I will never regret the hours spent in Sacred Heart church.
Thanks and God bless you all!
