What an amazing story! Started out on this genealogy lark last year and have found a few later weaver Wilson's from Camlachie in my tree. Am going to take it up again with gusto. And if I've got an ounce of that kind of radical blood running through my veins I will be THRILLED.

Thanks for putting together and making available such a fantastic piece of Glasgow and West of Scotland history.

David's note: Thanks for taking the time to post Sarah. Genealogy is a fascinating hobby and I'm sure that if your ancestors where there at the time then they were most certainly involved. It was hard not to be. Best Regards, do let me know if you get anywhere with your research, always fascinating to hear of people's successes! :-)

Comments: Thank you for putting together this piece of history. I have enjoyed reading and learning more about my husband's ancestor, Alan Murchie.

Comments: I am told that James Wilson is my great, great, great, great, great, great grandfather on my mother's side and I had heard some of the story previously, but nothing as detailed as your account. It's a fascinating essay and many thanks for publishing it openly.

David: You are very welcome Alistair. One of my hobbies is genealogy and family stories are always worth investigating. Hope you go down that path and look for your connection to James. From the evidence, I would say that he was survived by quite a few people, who steadfastly held on to his story. Thanks for taking the time to read my humble efforts. Cheers! :-)
