Comments: I found your site while looking for info on Lord Kilbracken. I am a member of the Shearwater Aviation Museum Foundation and our Museum has one of those "Stringbags" from that farm, now in flying condition.

Comments: Thanks for the information on the swordfish. My father actually flew in them during WWII in Canada! This will help me find more information for his impending Christmas present.

Comments: I happened upon your page while doing a search for Cmdr. Charles Lamb, author of "To War in a Stringbag." A fully restored Fairey Swordfish is owned by Bob Spence of Muirkirk, Ontario. HS554 served in the Maritime Command. It was recovered from the auction sale you referred to in 1970 in Courtland, Ontario, near Tillsonburg.
The Spence family belongs to the Canadian Harvard Aircraft Association based in Tillsonburg, Ontario -- a dedicated group of volunteers whose mission is to restore, preserve and demonstrate the Harvard and other aircraft associated with the RCAF. Check out our home page at www.hangarline.com.
Cheers,
Terry Scott
