Comments: Hi,
Discovered this site with the search term "Coronado XI", and discovered we share some history. My version of "The Battle of Can Tho" is on my site: A Grunts-eye View from the 3/60th Infantry. My account of February 26 begins about page 6 of "Letter to Larry, March 13".

Today, the site is all personal stuff, but as inspiration comes, I will include other relative links. Of course now I have something about Echo Co.
Cheers

Comments: I am a son of John Ellis - who fought with you guys in the 'Nam. I met quite a bit of you guys in San Diego at the reunion in 2002 (when they put up the Mobile Riverine Boat on Coronado Island). Just wanted you all to know that it was great meeting you - and very interesting to read all of your memoirs on this site. I know my dad thinks the world of you, and always lets me know (and is very excited) when he goes to a reunion.

I wish all of you the best,

John C. Ellis Jr

Comments: My brother John "Ron" Connelly served in Co., B. of the 3/60th of the 9th Infantry Division from about March 1967 until he was wounded around Christmas of 1967. I have a very large collection of his battle letters he sent home. He mentions many of the firefights, his letters are complete with drawings of the base camp, etc. He mentions alot of names of men killed, wounded, etc. My brother Ron died in a tragic accident after getting back from Vietnam in 1973. Before he died he told me about helping Sgt. Franks out of the field after being ambushed. He thought at that time Sgt. Franks was going to lose his arm. He had alot of respect for him and prior to my brothers death in December of 1973 he wanted to look up Sgt. Franks who was wounded I believe in October of 1967. Can anyone help? Or are there any other guys out there from Bravo Company. His letters are quite interesting and informative. They cover everything from the time he was drafted, to his arrival, through many firefights, search and destroy missions all the way up to being wounded. Later they cover funeral details, being assigned to riot control and his leaving the army. Anybody out there remember my brother Ron? He was of average build with sun bleached blond hair. Back home he had a reputation of being a ladies man. Sincerely and saluting all our brave soldiers, nurses and chaplains who served!! Richard M. Connelly
