Comments: I would like to add my hero, my best friend, my champion, my dad. My dad died on September 11, 2007. He had Type 1 diabetes for 47 years. He had (with many surgeries) eventually lost both legs, had quadruple by-pass surgery, was in stage 4 kidney failure and the latest blow was that he recently also developed thyroid issues. What it is important to remember is that he never gave up, he was truly a strong, strong man with a true brillance and gave so much to everyone he knew. I will miss him always & forever.

Comments: I just lost my father, Robert "Bobby" Barone of Freehold, New Jersey, on September 21, 2006 due to diabetic complications. It would mean a lot to me if his name could be included on the virtual quilt. My best friend, Jeneen Nacion is also on the virtual quilt. She died in 1998 from diabetic complications. I never thought I would lose the people I loved most to this disease.

Comments: Sheila,

The people who started the silver gray ribbon for diabetes did do the research. It was started almost ten years ago.
