Hello,
Found a name of my great great grandfather
James Mathew Walker. I want to find out about a girl that was assumed in his family by the name of Sallie W Walker.
Ms.Walker was assumed from the name
Pallie W Arrow. I want to find out where she originally came from whom, why and where. Can you help me if any. Your help and kindness is most appreciated.
Kindly

I would like to correspond with anyone who is interested in George Canning, who was in company G of the 1st Mississippi Cavalry, and who had indicated that he originally joined Captain Foote's company of Macon, Mississippi. Canning was later to go to Australia, about 1864, and then went aboard the Confederate cruiser, CSS SHENANDOAH, at Melbourne. He later died from a wound to his lung, which he indicated that he had received in battle at Shiloh, but I have now found positive evidence to show that he was never wounded in battle, and was not, as he later claimed, an officer and an aide to General Polk. In fact, he was a private, and, although he was detached to Polk's headquarters, he was only a private, and later a wagon master and forage master. His serious wound, to the lung, may have been received after his military service, probably from some other cause, instead of combat.
