I am your second cousin, and also second cousins to Harry and (Charles) Ray Akin, who wrote earlier comments here. Aunt Pearl was Ike Hudson's, my grandfather, sister. My dad is Ike's son, William (Bill) Beasley Hudson, VII. I loved your life's story and remember many stories told to me by my dad about you and your dad doing "heads & heels" at rodeos. Uncle Shorty wanted, and tried, to groom my dad to be a race jockey because he was a good height and body structure for it. But, his parents wanted nothing to do with it because they were afraid he would get hurt, or worse. I always enjoyed visiting with Uncle Shorty and Aunt Myrt. I remember when my grandmother, Emma Bell, was in the hospital July 1974. I was to be married and was thinking of canceling the wedding. Uncle Shorty insisted that I walk with him to get a soda out of the machine. He proceded to tell me that I was not to cancel the wedding and to "get that paint off my fingernails!" Still brings a smile to my face after all these years. Much love to you, and thanks for all the memories of your growing up years and times with your parents.

just happened to get here by trying to figure out how to get pics in my website--but your "life story" is a great one, I think we share the same love and admiration and pride for our fathers. Mine also died in 1995, my mother died in '69, I was barely 16. I live in Kentucky, where horses are plenty--but I'm scared to death of them, never was around them. I admire you for your courage. Thanks for your story, Barbara Thomas

Oh, my gosh. I just read your "where I came from". My father talked about Shorty. (It is not a name you forget). I can't believe how semiliar our lives are. We live in Thousand Oaks, I was born and grew up is San Francisco. I think my dad bought a horse from your dad. One of my sons lives in Visalia. I hope this gets to you and we might have a chance to meet.
Sincerely Paula

I'm Pearl's second oldest and your first cousin. Brother John "put me onto you".
I enjoyed your material immensely and plan to visit again when I have more time.
I feel that I know you well although I don't know that I would recognize you if you walked into the room!
Love, your cousin Harry
