Comments: Christ is in our midst.
I like your web page.
You give a good message and represent Orthodoxy very well.
By the way what ever happened to that great picture you had of the Church.
I'd like to see it up again.

Comments: From my conversion to Christ at age 18 (I'm now 59), I have yearned to be part of what Jesus and His holy apostles brought to the earth. I have had 9 years of full-time theological education and was ordained an Episcopal priest. In the desire to submit myself to God and to the apostolic writings, I have been stretched far beyond my original "boundaries". The spirit I find in the Orthodox writings I have encountered breathe a unique combination of Scripturally-centered piety and dogged determination to preserve what you understand to be the faith once delivered to the saints.

However, from my current vantage point, the accomodations to the world that have gotten built into your way of life evoke a fear in me that to be yoked to you would require me to compromise my vow to Jesus of unconditional surrender to ALL His teachings. One example of what I mean has to do with His insistence that anyone who will be accepted by Him as His disciple must commit themselves to turning the other cheek and to "not resist him who is evil." The earliest Christians (from the first two centuries) testify that those called Christians in their age did not participate in the kings wars ("even though he command us," Origen said).

I am not trying to argue, but to grow in the holiness of Christ. If I am incorrect in my understanding, I want to be stretched into the direction of obedience to Christ and His apostolic writings: that is our only safety. If anyone cares to correspond with me, I would value your communication and your thoughts. You might want to visit my web site (members.aol.com/rmerino). There is a book there that I have been working on for many years in my spare time.

May God draw all His elect together.

Reed [Merino]
