I am attending a course in Local History and I have taken as my research subject the 'soldiers from Edenderry, Co Offaly(Kings Co), Ireland, who fought in (died or survived) the First World War'. From the research I have done so far I have noticed that there has been a strong connection between Bonnybridge and Edenderry. Many families emigrated from Edenderry to Bonnybridge just before and after the First World War to work in the brick works and foundry. I have heard mention that after the First World War there were so many families from Edenderry in Bonnybridge that it was called 'little Edenderry'.
I am trying to gather stories from descendants of WW1 soldiers, who would have had a connection with Edenderry.
I am interested in any information about the soldiers and their families. If they survived the war, what was their life like after the war ? No piece of information is too small.
