Comments From 1961 to 1964 I was a Missile Mechanic assigned to the 389th Missile Maintenance Squadron, F.E. Warren AFB, Wyoming. I was not a crew member on the C-133 but our APCHE crew assisted in the loading of about ten Atlas D missiles for transportation from Cheyenne, Wyoming to Vandenberg, AFB, California. After five of the loadings I also escorted the missile to monitor the fuel and oxidizer tank pressurization during flight. On arrival in Vandenberg and the missile off loaded I would continue on to Travis, AFB for a return my home base F.E. Warren, AFB, WY via commercial transport.

I have listed in my home page link a You Tube video I discovered on the Internet of a Atlas missile being loaded on a C-133.

Comments My brother and I would play in a Cargo Master at Long Beach airport and one day we accidentally ejected one one it's doors. We also played around some old KC-97. Good times

Cal Comment: I checked the Dash One. The crew entrance door had a jettision capability, in case of the need to bail out. This may be the only time it was ever used!
