Comments: I know two young boys ages 15 and 13 who are fighting dsrct. The 15 year old is tumor free as of today and we are praying for no reccurance--his name is Greg. The 13 year old just completed round two of his chemo and there is some shrinkage noted on his ct scan. His name is Stephen Kuhn and his Dad is awesome--at his side every minute while his dear Mother takes care of the other two children. Stephen's Dad has spoken with Gregs Mother and she is a total inspiration--she gave him so much info about the Kushner protocol and she is very knowledgeable. I have spoken with her myself and she is an Adult Oncology Nurse as I am. I would love to hear from others and especially you Gerry--I would love to add you to my prayer list and others. Please contact me--busyfishers@yahoo.com or cell 214 213 6717. May God Bless all of us! Thank You--Sheila Fisher

Comments: My brother was diagnosed in July of 1998 and is (thank god) still with us. His story reads as such: A year of chemo, multiple surgeries, stem- cell transplant with Dr. Kushner at Sloan. CT scan were clear for a year but his body was so tired from all the treatments. A year later a CT scan showed a reoccurance in his lungs. Instead of going the route of chemo, he opted for an alternative therapy which kept him going another 2 years with CT scans reflecting that his therapy was keeping the cancer at bay and actually killing it. When this alternative therapy stopped working the cancer came back and spread into both of his lungs and spine. Frightened and desperate, he opted for another kind of chemo (this in November 2002) that was not as devistating to his system as prior chemos. It seems to be working now as he can walk around and play with his dog. He doesn't need oxygen any more and his CT scans show that the chemo is working. He abstains from sugar and maintains a decent PH balance in his body through diet.

We understand that we are buying time...but know that his prognosis was not good 5 1/2 years ago....he had 6 months to live - 2 years by more optimistic standards. What I feel is important to communicate to those touched by this disease is that it is necessary to open your heart and your mind to the possibilies of different approaches. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain. A combination of traditional medicine and alternative therapies have given my family more time together. We are endlessly grateful and always-always hopeful.
