Gino Vannelli's new Cd-Book A GOOD THING will be released on 8 February 2009 !!!

Brink. Ik ken Gino van zijn LP's Powerful People uit 1974 en Black Cars uit 1984. Beiden staan in het hokje van de POP muziek. Bert v.d. Brink ken ik van zijn samenwerking op de werkelijk schitterende Jazz cd van Dee Dee Bridgewater "Live in Montreux". Bij de opening van Bert was ik echter tóch verrast door zijn jazz inbreng welke door Gino naadloos gevolgd werd en waar beiden mochten soleren. Dat was dus even omschakelen! Geen pop, maar Jazz! Ná het 1ste nummer zat ik, als Jazz genieter, helemaal op het puntje van mijn stoel. Dit was helemaal onverwacht, maar super! Ik wist niet dat Gino dit in zich had.... Voor de pauze was het Jazz, maar ná de pauze kwamen er 3 violisten, 1 cello en 1 contrabas bij op het podium. Hier kwam het herkenbare geluid van vroeger weer terug. Leuk was ook, dat Bert liet horen dat hij ook met de accordeon overweg kan. Soms goed hoorbaar, maar soms ook op fluister niveau. Precies wat Gino ook met zijn stem kan doen! 'N stem die aan kracht én souplesse niets heeft ingeboet. Een dynamisch duo en een fantastische match. Mijn conclusie: een verrassende avond met 2 grootheden. Vraag! op welke cd's staan de stukken welke ik vóór de pauze gehoord heb. Dus het Jazz deel. Ik hoor - zie het graag. Met vriendelijke groet, Ton.

But ...I'm all cheered up now because I've just ordered tickets for the 'boerderij' in March and I am completely over the moon!! The new CD is incredible and I agree with the views on "The Surest Things Can Change" but I say the subtle changes to "Hurts To Be In Love" are pretty sweet too. Thanks again to Barend and Trees for keeping the faith!
