My own dear Dad John Mc Dermott was captured in Greece and was in Stalag 18a his number was 11072gw. He never spoke much about his experiences and sadly I lost him with dementia on 1st February 1993. I returned with Dad and Mum to Germany and Klagenfurt for several years to see friedns there. I would give anything to hear from someone who may remember him He played trumpet in the concerts in the stalag sometimes. I think his best mate was someone from Peebles in Scotland. He also worked on the railway there as his work detail. This site opened my eyes wider to the hardship and courage of the men like my Dad and so many many others.
