Comments: I looked at your units by county and saw a few differences and many correct locations of Whitfield / Ross Texas Cavalry Brigade Units. If you would like I can forward you a copy of the locations of the 4 regiments of this brigade and the origins. Except for 3 companies of the 27th TX Cavalry (1st) which has three units which have not been fully researched. The L, M, an N companies have only sparce histories. By researching the 1860 census and making some educated guesses, I have generally located these units. It would be better if I had time to check every man against the census. My web site is at geocities.com/sixtxcavrgtcsa

Comments: I am the great granddaughter of Daniel Newell Etheridge and Jennie Etheridge. I have found Daniel listed in various records on this website and in this book - he was in the Milam County Grays - Company G. Daniel Etheridge and his wife Jennie and my grandmother (Eva) and her 11 brothers and sisters (Molly, Neal, etc.) lived in Cameron on a small cotton farm. The last resident in their old farmhouse was Neal Etheridge - son of Daniel Newell Etheridge. Many years ago, I visited a cemetery in Cameron where all of the Etheridges are buried - many of them. I would like to go there again. Does anyone know where the Etheridge family is buried? Thank you very much. - Marsha

Comments: I am seeking information on the family of Franz Josef Maedgen who died in Miliam County on July 19, 1868/9. I do not know where he is buried; family tradition says he was buried in Milam County. Three of his sons (Mortiz, Gustov, and Ernst) served in the armed forces of the CSA. In the Census of 1860 (page 54) they were all living in the Port Sullivan area. I would like to determine where Franz Joseph Maedgen and Ernst (Adolph Ferdinand) Maedgen (father/son) are buried. They died within in few months of each other.

Comments: I'm the webmaster for the NM SCV Division. One of our projects is to locate the burial locations of Confederate soldiers KIA in NM during Sibley's NM campaign.
Capt Charles B. Buckholts was the CO of Co E, 4th TX Mounted Volunteers and was KIA at Glorieta Pass, NM on 3/28/1862. We have some evidence that Capt Buckholts was a Mason and either buried or re-interred at the Masonic Lodge Cemetery in Santa Fe, NM. That cemetery was closed in 1898 and the remains of all were re-interred to the Fairview Cemetery in Santa Fe, NM. There is no record of Capt Buckholts' remains in the Fairview Cemetery. Perhaps his remains were moved to and interred in Milam County.
Do you have any info regarding whether Capt Buckholts is buried in Milam County or in the Fairview (Santa Fe, NM) Cemetery.
Regards,
Ed Whitted -- NM SCV Division Adjutant
