In memory of my grandson, Jason Alan Mathew Nankivell, Jr. 12/06/95 - 09/13/07 Jason defied the odds and lived to almost 12 yrs old with this devastating disease. Not a day goes by that we don't think of him and miss his smile. Your Grandma, Nonnie

I am so sorry for your loss. Kayley was such an adorable little girl. I also lost my son Matthew to Mito disease in January 2007. He was 4 1/2 mos old and spent his entire life in the hospital. We were never given a definite diagnosis, just that there was a problem with his mitochondria and that it had affected his liver, heart and eventually all of his organs. We too had to make the horrible decision remove life support. After post mordem results they still have no known disease diagnosis. It is possible that Matthew's case is one of a kind. Even though our stories are different they are very much the same. You have done a wonderful job with Kayley's website. God Bless you and your family.
Sincerely,
Kim...Matthew's mommy
