Two Mongolia Hiking Tours
Hikers/Trekkers,
Hike the beautiful Mongolian countryside in the summer of 2003.
Hike under the endless blue sky of the Mongolian countryside observing nomadic life, ancient monasteries and cities founded during the reign of Chinggis Kahn and his successors.
The tours are provided by Off The Map Tours, an Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia based Tour Company. Two tailor-able tours are available:
Itinerary 6 "Khovsgol Lake (Northern Mongolia)": This is a 12 day tour along the shores and through the flower filled meadows and forests around Lake Khovsgol which lies against the dramatic backdrop of the Khoridol Saridag mountains. Local inhabitants of the region breed reindeer, yaks, horses and sheep. The trek is suitable for anyone who exercises regularly.
Itinerary 7 "The Natural Wonders of Arkhangai Province"--This 14 day trek is through the scenic Gorkhi-Terelj national park where no permanent buildings exist. In fact there is little sign of human-habitation except for a few nomadic families and their animal herds. This tour is along the White Lake, which is situated beside the extinct Khorgo volcano. The area has unusual geographical features and rare plant life.
