Has anyone out there any first-hand knowledge of the "Caterpillar Train" that took off from La Guaria cross-country to Guico in the late 1930s to establish the base of operations in Guario? Please, let me know. I know the Breedings were on it. Who else?

oh my goodness!!amazing-the things your kids don't tell you about!
This is amazing-don't want to say too much until I digest all of what I've read-the whole blooming site. You guys are wonderful.
Those of you who might remember the Holt family-we went to Maracaibo in june'75,then the original destination of Anaco,in oct.'76. All with Baroid.
This brings back so many memories-the school,yes-my times as a 'para-professional librarian for the SACS accreditation, with Mr.Dailey. the house in Las Palmas, where I discovered I was pregnant, not the flu, and it was like I'd started an epidemic.
I would love to know what and where and how all of the old friends are-the Gourmet Dinners we had, the Mardi Gras, the volleyball games, the morning coffees at the Fte.de Soda, waiting for the Daily Journal to come in-being told probably more business deals were done there than in anyone's office. Watching the expansion from a few people ,for Baroid, we had a few engineers, then 28 or 30-I cooked a lot of turkey some years!
And then 2 years,as was the initial plan expanded as the opportunity for Brinadd occurred, and I started several businesses with PatF. and then the coffee shop, so nostalgic-Cafe duMonde, became 'monte', and I made pizzas because you can always have the ingredients for that, when you cannot get sugar, as happened after several years of the devaluation. Does anyone reading this remember all the uncertainties about everything? Saying like the last one here turn out the lights?
I have fond memories of the despididas, and telling everyone that we want to leave with the notion of meeting again as friends, so having good feelings is something to be fostered.
I remember getting corraled into the Madrina program at the CasaHogar. There were many of us, please forgive if I can't remember names, carol grasbaugh, and joyce carr I do remember well. Is the orphanage still going? I was always impressed that it was the longest operational place of its kind, and supported by the Protestant churches,if I got it right.
I was there almost, the better part of 18-diesiocho years.Still can't speak Spanish very well, but I wouldn't trade it-the rich wondeful, very internatinal life we lived. So many lives from around the world-remember my little pre-kinder? So Amanda could have playmates.
Well, if any of you find this and want to communicate, I'd love to hear from you. Thanks to those who put it together, and keep it going. Hasta la luego y caio,Sra.Susan
