Instead, it has been a lifetime of research and study for me and my brother. He is a battle and weapon micro studier. I prefer the larger picture: the way WW2 created the world of today, the affect of WW2 on Africa, Asia, Europe and America. But the most important impression on me are the tears I have cried so many times when reading about the suffering of the American fighting men, and the innocent people of all nationalities, who got caught up in the war. That the devils of Nazi Germany, and Stalin, were able to cause so much agony, death and destruction gives me little hope that mankind can long endure. I hope my children, and all children, are able to learn from WW2 and create a better world. But a trip to the Viet Nam Memorial in Washington DC causes tears...humans are, unfortunately, doomed to be born without memory of the past, and doomed to create their own, new hell...

My grandfather was in a tank at the Battle of the Bulge. While this is not even the same theater as you, I can imagine he went through and saw some amazing things.
