I just picked up the police report of the accident my husband and I were in on Friday, Dec. 19. I am a bit taken back with some of the things the officer wrote. First of all it was raining, it was not heavy rain. I think I would have known that, I was driving one of the vehicles. Secondly the other party that was driving came to my husbands side of the car asking if we were alright and my husband yelled at her telling her no, especially my wife, she already has titanium rods, screws and new disc in her back. She kept saying how sorry she was and that her brakes wouldn't stop her and she was going too fast. Well I think that constitutes a traffic ticket for careless driving and not being able to control her vehicle because of speed. By her own admission. The officer claims he did a roadside inspection and tested the brakes several times. Each time he performed the test the brakes did work properly. Well, I am sorry, but if she does any other damage to herself or someone else, because she told the officer that the brakes were not working and her brake light stayed on that the City of Glassboro and the officer who did not write the tickets and failed to leave it up to a Judge to decide if she was right or wrong will be responsible for what happens. He claims she was traveling too fast (speeding) for road and weather conditions and in all probability waited too long to apply the brakes (lost control of her vehicle,Careless Driving). He said himself in the report that speed and road conditions were a more likely to be the cause of the crash than equipment failure.( Why, if the officer stated the guilt of the driver were tickets not issued?), I was taken to Cooper Hospital Trauma Unit, not JFK as he has written. My husband was taken to JFK Hospital for neck and back pain. I was taken to Cooper because the ambulance attendant thought I was a more critical case. The officer says that my husband was belligerent to the Police dispatcher (who did not grasp where we were located. She kept saying are you near the Academy). He asked for someone else to speak with, that maybe they would understand him. Also, the officer says that my husband was belligerent to Ptlm. Fanelli #948. Yes he told the officer to "go to hell", but that was after his request of calling my son was ignored. A few Ptlm. stood on the sideline laughing about what my husband said, but didn't have time to call my son, who was only 3 lights away. Ptlm. Fanelli #948 could have called while the other Ptlm. got out of the rain which was not heavy, to do the paperwork. And the others could have diredted traffic. I don't know if Ptlm. Fanelli was attempting to render first aid and speak to my husband about the crash. And yes he exited the vehicle because his back was cramping up on him. Finally EMS arrived and we were taken to the hospitals I mentioned. I think either Ptlm. Jones #962 should email me or the Chief of Police.
This matter should not be left as it is. I do think in all honesty that the young lady driving who struck us should have received a ticket for speeding, which the officer admits, and careless driving. More important, A police officer should not judge the guilt of a driver, that is why we have courts, the fines collected from this sort of occurence should go toward the costs incurred by this occurance, it is one of the reasons we have a surcharge system set up in this state.

My husband and I were rear ended yesterday at High St/Rt. 322 and Rt. 47/Delsea Drive. The 911 dispatcher had no idea what my husband was trying to tell her which took all that much longer for assistance to arrive. I myself would like to know who the dispatcher was. She kept asking my husband about are we by the Academy? And my husband kept yelling telling her the same thing over and over again of where we were. He even begged for someone else to talk to. Finally after the Glassboro Police Dept. showed up and the ambulance squad everything seemed to roll along.
My husband asked one police officer if he would please call my son who was just up the street at Nick's so he would know where to pick my car up instead of haivng it towed and the officer said, after he had the paperwork. Well it was rude, there was more than one police officer there that could have helped. My son did get the message, I think because my husband got him. He came to the scene of the accident and the police would not let him near it. I thank the officers and ambulance squads that helped us.
I am a little bitter about how the dispatcher tried to help, by not listening to my husband who of course got more and more upset with her as minutes ticked by. And we are both a little bitter with how the officer treated my husband and his request. He could have asked one of his other officers for that help while he got out of the rain to check the paperwork. I apologize now if it was the police that got a hold of my son. I really didn't know what was going on the whole time, my husband filled me in when he got to Cooper and saw me lying in the hallway. He said the officer wouldn't help him until he had the paperwork, so he told him to go to hell. Well the officer was smug and laughed with his fellow officers about it. I heard that part, in between my crying in pain. I also think that the party that hit us called in the accident too. She was really upset knowing I had surgery and had titanium rods, screws and new disc in my back. She said "I am so sorry, my brakes wouldn't work, they gave out."
All in all it was a terrible day. My husband was taken to Kennedy Hospital Washington Township and I was taken to Cooper Hospital in Camden because they thought with my back surgery that I was a more severe case because of all the pain I was talking about. I really thought Cooper was talked up about how superior and more sophisticated a hospital they are, but I was wrong. I was treated like a piece of nothing and left in the hallway on a stretcher to wait until someone could get to me. I was there from 2 something until 8 pm. And they sent me home with no pain medication. They did give me a shot of morphine a half hour before I left, but did they expect it to last the weekend until I could get ahold of my family doctor on Monday? So it really wouldn't have mattered if I went to Kennedy or Cooper. But I bet at Kennedy I would have had a room and not been in the hallway where everyone could gawk at me. And they would have most definitely sent me home with pain medication because of my back pain. I am not impressed with Cooper Hospital and I will let them know. Thanks for letting me air my differences with you on your web site. You may email me back if you want.
I would also like to get a copy of the police report. Do I call the station itself or do I call some kind of records room?

I really think someone should look into the drugs in 410 Cornell Rd's basement. They are selling, especially on Wednesday nights. If you go around to the back door you'll find a great many people high and buying drugs.

My son attends Rowan and has an Apt. in Campus Crossings. His car was hit while parked 4/8/08 by a delivery truck. I used a search engine to find the general phone number for the Dept. and worked my way thru to the Records Dept. to understand how I can obtain a copy of the Police report. The young lady I spoke with was extremely helpful...I like to pass on good news about folks when I can ... so Corey gets todays "Attaboy" or should that be "attagirl"...anyway Thanks for the help.
