Comments: Hi Tony,
My favourite song from Rare Bird mk1 would be "As your Mind Flies By" just a sublime piece of music,i also like Devil's High Concern,in my opinion RB missed a trick by not releasing this as a follow up to Sympathy.God of War is great, sort of a melodramatic start and a fantastic keyboard duel between Field/kaffanetti at the end of the song.I also love Beautiful Scarlet.

Rare Bird mk2,i play more of this stuff nowadays,i think "peace of mind" is just brilliant and has stood the test of time,Redman is another classic a quite beautiful song which has a sublime Steve Gould vocal.I love "More and More",soul/rock at it's best.
I've linked a Chantel McGregor band take on a Robin Trower song "Spellbound",hope you like it.
Oh and Stephen has based some of his guitar playing style on the late great Paul Kossoff.
take care,
Neil

Comments: Hey Neil,

Thank you so much for posting your reply: great clip you posted last time - no surprise it's in my favourites now! Will start to track down these releases...

Do you happen to know if the band still gets royalties for this great music? I know someone has gone to the trouble to remaster... I'm sure you know what I mean.

While I'm here: what is everyone's favourite track? For me it's a bit weird - it quite often is the one I'm playing at the time! tbh, I had forgotten about the recordings for a long time: I'm a HUGE Robin Trower fan and my nickname and email are based on some of his music. But since rediscovering them I've developed a serious case of OCD - I have played nothing else at all for several weeks. And by that I mean all 5 albums in sequence - proper Rare Bird-athons!

I do keep coming back to God of War (especally), Hammerhead, Peace of Mind, More and More, Her Darkest Hour (always makes me weep, I'll be honest), Turn It All Around... there's just SO many others as well.

All the best, everyone!

Tony

Comments: Hi forearthbelow,
All the five Rare Bird albums have been remastered with a couple of extra tracks on each, they've been digitally rematered with the usual clear as a bell result from esoteric,Epic Forest for some reason was brought out on a different cherry red label but i'm surmising it got the same digital treatment,it's the only one i've still got that was bootlegged by red fox.

I'll give the Nightwish song a listen, and i've put a link in above to Restless Wind by Runner,Steve Gould on vocals, guitar by my son !!
Take care,
Neil

Comments: Hello everyone,

Don't come here often but I have been a fan for more years than I care to remember (I'm 56 now). I truly cannot comprehend how this wonderful group never had a major following: I just wish things could have been more different and, who knows, maybe there would have been more brilliant music than we currently have in the RB library.

I do have a question, though, and maybe someone may have an answer or at least an inkling. Previous messages have inferred that ther are some remastered releases out there now: which albums, please, and how do they differ to the previously released material (I have the 5 albums on the 4 cd from Red Fox which I got from Germany about 4 years ago now I think...). Thank you for reading this and best wishes to you all!

Regards,

Tony

PS I think it was Neil M who posted a link to a Nightwish video: I prefer this one!!

But then again I prefer this....

Comments: Hello,
I am not a music specialist, but I would like Steve Gould to read this :
I listened to "As your mind flies by" from about 17 to 29 years old, then left my boyfriend (and the album, but could make a tape). Now, so many years later, it still fills my heart. I listen to "Down on the floor" in the car, when driving, and so many memories come back.
It is a pity I will probably never hear you sing live, but please know that you are far more known around the world than you realize and that you still make people happy.

Comments: Just dropped by to let you all know I spoke with David K. a few months ago and he's doing just great. We're living in Austin, Tx now but David played in my band "Tattoo Blue" for close to 3 years. Always a professional and a wonderful person. He's still living, loving, and playing in Northern California.

Comments: Hi all,
I mentioned in a post to Glen that i'd been in touch with esoteric records about the Runner album and whether it would be possible for them to give it the remaster treatment that they did so well with the Rare Bird albums. No answer was forth coming from them so maybe one or two others would like to email Vicky at the address above.
I did find out that Epic Forest had been remastered by El which is part of the Cherry Red record company, the same as esoteric.
take care,
Neil
ps....here's her e-mail address in case the link above doesn't work...
Vicky Powell esotericarts@btconnect.com this address has a chevron before and after the address but not including Vicky Powell just the address bit.Hope that makes sense!!!!
