Comments: I want to know why we call a cup a cup but others call a cup a glass. My husband and I ( he was raised elswewhere) argue about what glass is. I say a cup holds liquid and he says a glass is a tall cup that has no handle. I said when my grandpa wanted a cup of iced tea he wanted a large cup made out of glass. is this an Oklahoma dialect thing or am I wrong? My husband says a cup generally has a handle and a glass doesn't. Will you please settle this.
