Was Plt Cmdr 3rd Plt F Co 2nd Bn 1st Marines on May 19th,1968 just outside Khe Sanh combat base. Road sweep ambushed and fight lasted till late afternoon. We had 19 KIA and 44 WIA. 5 B Co 1st Tanks knocked out that ame out of base. I fought from a bomb crator within the ambush site and a Tank that was supporting Echo 2/3 in its sweep from Bridge 3 came into ambush site and I ran out and directed its cannon fire into NVA trench. I would really like to find someone who can hook me up with the tank crew .I think they were C Co 1st Tanks Semper Fi C V Thompson SSgt.

I wish to convey my sincere, heartfelt thanks, admiration and respect as an American citizen, to the brave men who served our country, fought, died and prevailed at Khe Sanh. Having just viewed the History Channel presentation about the Viet Nam war, I ached at the sacrifice and pain caused by that war; I even shed a tear. But for the Grace of Almighty God, as a 54 year old today, I was not caught up in the war back then. But even back then as a young teenager, I wanted to acknowledge your sacrifice in some small way. So, I started the POW / MIA club in my high school to help the families of those who served.
The cost of our freedom is high and is paid for with the blood and treasure of men like you and those who are and were your BROTHERS at Khe Sanh. If I have a regret in my life, it is that I have never known the feelings that bind the fabric of devotion that holds the hearts of you who served to each other. I salute you and shout my pride for the patriots and heroes of Khe Sanh. May God Bless you all the days of your lives and may our country never forget you, your service and your fallen bretheren.
