Platanos and Collard Greens hit the New York stage last summer, and completed a very successful college tour last fall and spring. This play encourages discussion and dialogue between students while entertaining and educating. Platanos and Collard Greens was written by David Lamb, www.lambbooks.com. David is an Adjunct Professor at John Jay College in NYC, where he teaches a course entitled Society and Hip Hop Culture. Platanos and Collard Greens is based on David's book "Do Platanos Go Wit' Collard Greens?" It is an intellectual, romantic comedy that examines stereotypes and cultural differences and similarities between Blacks and Latinos. Platanos is funny, explosive, and touching. It will remind you of your family, your loves, and your life. It will make you laugh, make you angry, and make you think. Platanos and Collard Greens has been performed at colleges and universities from coast to coast, from Maryland to California to Illinois to Rhode Island.
