When they were in foster care from the first day to now I have had issues with their cleanliness and care. The caseworker blew off my concerns as petty jealously. Less than a month later they were removed emergently to another foster home because the day care provider called CPS on the foster mother. The children were filthy, wore the same clothes every day and arrived to day care without being secured in their car seats. The case worker told others in the department that I got a "bad rap and should have never had my kids removed...because the danger is in jail" but she refuses to advocate for reunification. This was told by me to an employee of the county DSS in strict confidence. She is also very concerned about their safety and well being in foster care because they were very well cared for prior to being removed. They are also not up to date on their health maintenance. And I am being charged with neglect.

I have to say that I am a bit outraged at the published so called "facts" about my case. What DSS and the police fail to mention is that my daughter was originally kidnapped from my home state of Missouri by her father. The only reason I was in Charleston, SC when my daughter was taken by DSS was to get my daughter back. I drove almost 16 hours to get to SC just to have the police and my daughter's family treat me like dirt...I hate to throw racism in but there is no doubt in my mind that it played a part in all of this. I am black and my daughter's father is white, he is a native of SC. The police did not know anything about me- I had no criminal record - but they immediately doubted everything I had to say but listened whole-heartedly to my daughter's father and his family. I felt my hands were tied...I couldn't seem to get any jsutice. My child was taken sole based on the words of my daughter's father and his family - no other proof was presented. On this alone, I felt I was done an injustice and I refused to allow the system to make my daughter a victim. I took her, and I never regretted it. I know have a criminal record but it was worth it...the DSS of Charleston, SC is out of control and they have too much power. I wish the so-called details of this case would be removed from sites like this, all is unproven and hearsay.
