Thursday 04/02/2009 10:40:38am Name: MIKE KING E-Mail: michael.king49@tiscali.co.uk Homepage Title: Homepage URL: Referred By: Just Surfed In Location: ENGLAND Comments: My father Bill King was on the armoured merchant ship 'Ranchi' in the same convoy KMF26 as the Rohna, his ship was also attacked, they were lucky, a bomb hit one of the ships rigging wires and was deflected ,passing through the deck and out through the side of the ship without exploding. Reports suggest that there would have been many casualties amoung the troops and crew if it had exploded. Bill was in 4.2 marine commando on his way to Burma, he was later wounded but survived the war and died at his home in England in 1996.I have only recently become aware of tragic story of the 'Rohna'while researching dads war records,i owe a great debt to all those who fought and and died on my behalf and wish they all could have returned home just as my father did, god bless them all.
