In searching for my own siblings... our foster care was through Children's Aid Society, Adoptions through the Wayne County Court, same one for all I guess. What I learned that makes a huge difference: 1) While obtaining Original Birth Certificates, and then my Siblings requesting Ammended Birth Certificates we learned: The Birth Records up through 1969 were not purged or not purged completely. If I remember this correctly, the State of MI was attempting to remedy this huge amount of records in 1993. I doubt it was ever completely purged, by this point there were probably too many errors to correct. Explanation: When an Adoption in Wayne County would occur, be it by private agency or the courts, any agency, the amended records were to be sent to the State to be processed with the Original Birth Certificate. Many if not most for many years were not processed after these Adoptions finalized. Therefor, many Original Birt Certificates remained on file without the Amended Birth Info. The way I learned about this, some how - some way one of my siblings Original Birth Certificate was provided to my Mother upon Request, and his Amended/Adopted Information had never been processed. While speaking with one of the Admin. in Lansing, she explained this whole story to me as did one of the politicians who kindly got on the phone and explained the inaccuracies caused between the agencies & courts causing the State's Vital Records to be incomplete in the matter of Adoptee Amended Birth Records. I don't know if this is of any help to anyone, but I will say that due to the error of record keeping, my family was fortunate in obtaining more information than what we asked for. 2) Guardiansip Notices were most often printed in the "Legal News" all court case numbers for Minors stayed the same from beginning Gaurdianship court process to Final Adoption Decree - change would be name of course. Some obscure publications commonly used back in the 60's. The Legal News and/or Barrister Hunting & Fishing and many other frequently viewed but not known for it's legal notices, publications. The idea behind the Legal News is because it was and probably still is, most often viewed by the legal community, not everyday people that have cases in court on Gaurdiaship & Adoption. *Hope it's ok I posted this info, and hope it helps someone.

I spent over 25 yrs. searching and reuniting my own family, in the process began doing the same for other families in WA,OR,CO,MI,CA & OH (I think that's it). While not active for sometime now, this issue is dear to me, and I will always be humbled to those that taught and helped me in my own search, and will never forget those I helped. My Story in Brief: Sept. 20, 1960 in Detroit, MI began years of seperation and heartache for my family, at that time there were 12 of us, 10 ended up in foster care, 5 adopted or in the process when my search began - total children turned out to be 14 of us, all same parents. Long story short, reunited with last of the 5 little ones in 1994, my Mom has now been with all of her children again, my father died in 1976, he didn't get to reunite with 3 of the 5. Came across your site in searching for info on an orphanage located on W. Vernor Hwy, edge of Patton Park, was there in '62, now the Pablo Davis Elderly Complex, anyone know the name of it? Just trying to piece together the last 2 missing years of my childhood, not bad since I started out with 7 missing years! I thank you again for this wonderful work of love, and I wish each and every member of the Triad - Hope and Inspiration, don't ever give up - it will happen and it will be what it is meant to be - a mother and child never lose the bond between them, it is a bond that only the two of them know, feel, share and understand and cannot be extended to another - I believe this is a gift from above that makes a reunion possible - to date I haven't been proven otherwise. Cherish that bond, do not take it for granted or lightly, this bond is your link - don't question it and don't doubt it, fear of rejection for all Triad is inevitable but not necesary - go find this out for yourself - you will surely realize you have never been alone, you have always been together.
