Comments: just stoped by to see your progress on your build . my build is complete but making small changes based on your build. why would the stove pipe be facing into the wind and not trailing the wind? great work. rex

---------------------
Hi Rex,

Square rigged ships are different from modern day wind powered sailing yachts. In order to get power and speed from the wind, a square rigged ship is sailed on a course where the wind is actually blowing from the stern area of the ship towards the bow. The closer the wind is to dead astern, the more power and speed. Hence, a funnel facing forward on a square rigged ship is actually trailing the wind. The same holds true for flags - which would also follow the wind direction by blowing from the stern towards the bow.

Best regards,

-Stu

Comments: Stu - Hi once again - boy I put my hat down to you - your patience, professionalism and ingenuity is awesome. I still not have commenced my NL kit and daydream constantly about starting same but do not have a place/workshop area to ensconce myself and work away for 5yrs + I am however planning to build a small area within the year so hopefully my daydreaming will come to an end :) - I do look forward to the addits to your build files and one day hope to be able to "tap in" on your experiences. Well done and best regards - Greg Rayner
