I remember heckling you outrageously in Brighton 1986, and would just like to apologise. I was always a bit of a fan, esp. Sunday to Saturday, and was very drunk that night.

Typical...you wait two days for a comment and then three come along at once.
Ok, last word(!).
Why would someone who had never heard of The June Brides go out and buy the Every Conversation 2CD on the basis of the Uncut review? There's really nothing in the review to encourage people to listen to the originals (the Cherry Red retrospective isn't even mentioned).
Other reviews of the tribute actually named June Brides cds for readers to buy (both the Cherry Red and Overground comps). Which makes sense.

Thanks Phil - and sorry to Emmet for getting album title wrong and the "Comfort" confusion (plucked it from the top of my head without checking tracklisting). If it really did throw people on to going out and buying a copy of the Every Conversation 2CD then that can only be a great thing. Anyway, what does Uncut know? (that's probably me sacked now...)
Best wishes to all involved
S
PS - I'm not really a Manics fan either...

Simon,
Thanks for leaving the message/explanation! I must admit that I was annoyed at the review - mainly for the sake of all the bands who'd given their time and resources to contribute to Emmet's labour of love. I wanted them to get some recognition or praise for the fine jobs they did. I also think that many of them did great versions - my favourites being The Starlets, Mad Scene, Jeff Lewis and The Jasmine Minks. However, the good thing was that Uncut judged it to be the very worst album of the month. Better that than something that's just middling! Best, Phil
