My great grampa F E Black 1863 Maxville OH - 1927 Calif began working for the Ohio Central RR when he was 16 as section hand and brakeman, his run between Bucryus, Corning, Columbus and Toledo. In 1885 he was in same capacity on the Pittsburg, Ft Wayne and Chicago RR, between Ft Wayne and Crestline OH for 6 years. He went to California in 1891 and worked for the Southern Pacific as conductor there. Have photo of him on his caboose. His fatherinlaw, Sylvester Sylvanus Current worked for the Penn RR for over 38 years in the car shop. You have very interesting and informative site. Kudos to all railroad buffs and professionals. God bless you. |
