Hello -
Wow, your webpage brought back a lot of cherished memories!! I attended LHS from 1964-1967 (7th to 9th grade) before moving on to Malmstrom AFB w/my dad & family. BEATLES RULED!
Joyce Dahlen would probably never remember me, but I can remember taking her to the movies and holding her hand (what a thrill). I was in love with her and Dana Brown. I also saw an untitled picture of Fran Canavan, who was my rival in baseball. I pitched the first no-hitter at White Field (circa. 1967) for the Twins (over by the Air Rescue facility.)
I am retired from the Federal government (31 years) and United Airlines (17.5 years). I now work for Lockheed Martin under contract to the US Coast Guard Headquarters in Washington, DC.
Thanks for the photos - very emotional as I look back on things now, it was the best time of my life!!

I just moved from Lajes to Virginia and I had the BEST times of my life on that little island. I made the best friends and learned ALOT about myself. I miss the old bars and the cows.. The old officer's houses have been torn down, and more housing has been added to "The Ghetto". The skate rink is closed, and the Burger King has closed, but the movie theatre and bowling alley are still standing. Praia Fest is still the BIGGEST event besides Christmas, and going to the beach is still a round year event. The school hasn't changed much from the pictures I saw, but now it is called Lajes American School because the elementary and high school have combined. I would pack up and move back this very second. Although I was not able to graduate there, I still call LHS and Terciera my home. I am so glad I found this web site. It really portrays the fun times and life changing experiances of la isla de terciera.

What's going on everyone? I was there 73/74. My beautiful girlfriend and the love of my life was Nancy Fisher. We eventually married and had two beautiful Sons together. And like most, sadly divorced. Thanks for our Beautiful Sons, Nancy!
"Beautiful Blue Eyes" you will ALWAYS have a very special place in my Heart just for you.
I still love you and always will.
Love you forever Nancy, Rick

I didn't go to high school there but I wasn't too much older than you people when I was stationed there.I have never looked up the place until just now and what a memory it evoked. Colonel Chalifoux was the commander when I was there and I was with the supply squadron. The movie MASH played there and I also spent a lot of time at the club. Also remember Praia and Angra being the beautiful towns to see but the civilian employees were the perfect hosts when you accepted an invitation to their homes....they were the real ambassadors to the airmen. Is there any info or page for people who past through there?I would remember names if I saw them. I am currently a firefighter in New Brunswick, New Jersey and have also had a side business as a good old fashioned sign painter. Most people would probably remember my cartoons---always a funny thing would get my sketching pad out and memorialize the moment.I guess I left in 1971 and went to Travis for my final stop and discharge. Thanks for the opportunity to remineice and I would appreciate any info.
