Comments: I have a border collie/great pyrenees mix that we adopted from the rescue group. He was 8 months old and had been abused and it took 45 minutes for him to take a treat from me. He is a super intelligent dog, but does not trust easily. Wouldn't trade him for anything.

Comments: Hello,I came across your site, when I was looking for some information. We have an eight month old Great Pyrenees puppy and I have to say he is the most intelligent, lovable dog we have ever had. He came from a local farm (his parents are both working dogs)and immediately became a part of our family. He started watching over our children by the time he reached four months old. He keeps an eye on them whenever they are doing something that he is not a part of.He lets me know if he thinks something is off and when I tell him it's okay, he usually flops down and goes to sleep.

We did a lot of research and have been socializing him as much as possible. We have had a lot of people tell us he would be hard to manage, because he does not have sheep to watch over, but he is very happy and gets along really well with all of our other pets.People that meet him are amazed at his age and how well behaved and calm he is. He has a lot of people that are in love with him!

We brought him home at six weeks old (I read on your site why they should not leave so early...we did not know this at the time) and he had never been in a house, until he came here. I think it actually worked out well, because he had never been inside, he wouldn't relieve himself, until he went outside. This is the first puppy we have ever had that trained so quickly and I think people do not believe us when we tell them this, lol.

Your dogs are beautiful and your site if extremely helpful and interesting. Thanks so much for providing so much information. If possible, I would like to ask you a few questions if you wouldn't mind?
