He told me a story of how my GGG?? Grandfather came to America from Germany and fought against George Washington during the battle of Trenton (Washington crossed the Delaware on Christmas night, 1776). Curious, I’ve done a little bit of research and found an obituary for a John Ludwig Snyder (http://www.usgennet.org/usa/il/topic/history/SnyderJohnLudwig.html ), who was “with” (not against) George Washington during that historic event. Now I’m not sure if this is the story my father was referring to, but it’s a better story than fighting against the Father of our country. I guess I’ll be going back to Mifflinville to start tracing birth certificates.
