Served 80-82/ HT....I just surfed in and found that she had been scraped. It's sad to know that a big part of your past memories is gone. They were good years and bad, but I wouldn't be who I am today without the experience. I would love to get in contact with my old ship mates. If anyone knows Joe McMann or Mauel Silas, refer them to the site.

In memorial of Kelly Quick, my high school friend, who died from the attack on the USS Stark. The shock of losing him has passed, but he is still missed daily. Thank you for service and sacrifice for our country. We love you Kelly.

Van Dycke, Robert R.
Robert R. Van Dycke, 52, of Broadalbin passed away Friday afternoon April 17, 2009 at Albany Medical Center Hospital following a brief illness. He was born in Little Falls on October 4, 1956, a son of Theodore and Edna Dart Van Dycke, and attended school in Cobleskill. Mr. Van Dycke lived in West Milton for seven years before moving to Broadalbin in 1989. He was employed as an inspector of quality control at Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory in West Milton. In addition, Bob was a part-time mechanic for Moonlight Horticultural Services. Mr. Van Dycke was very active with the Twin Rivers Boy Scout Council for over 30 years as an adult scout leader. Bob was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served aboard the USS Coontz. He was very devoted to his family and was a dependable friend to many. He considered the outdoors as his church and enjoyed activities such as rock hopping, fishing, camping, and cast iron cooking. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Kimberly J. (King) Van Dycke, whom he married on July 17, 1977; two sons, Justin J. (Davona) Van Dycke and Ivan R. (Candice) Van Dycke; a daughter, Cassady Jo (Michael) Crosier; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Josephine and Ivan King; a brother, Theodore (Florence) Van Dycke; two sisters, Eileen Parks and Mabel (Henry) Larkin; two grandchildren, Samantha and Dean, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Cremation was performed at the Park View Crematorium, Schenectady. A celebration of Bob's life will be held on Friday beginning at 1 p.m. at the American Legion Pavilion, Pine St., Broadalbin (dish to pass appreciated). In lieu of flowers, in Bob's memory, Kim would like plants to put outside her home to help keep Bob's spirit alive in her yard, or memorial contributions may be made to the "BVD Scouting Fund" in care of NBT Bank, 199 Second Ave. Ext., Gloversville, NY 12078. Arrangements are by the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home, Inc., Broadalbin.
