I trained here in 1943-44 with the 10th Mountain Division before entering combat in Italy. We just had a reunion of over 300 such veterans in Denver and spent one day back at Hale. I learned to ski on "B slope" and Cooper Hill. We had a great reunion with nearly 1000 (including descendants) attending.

I went to FT Carson after Vietnam and was part of the ski instructor training. I especially remember the wild rides to Leadville in the back of the 2 1/2 ton trucks, scary.

Yes; I went on the 1971-1972 ski trip from FT carson. I loved it, especially when we would ski in the woods. We would ski all day with this Norweigen guy, and once or twice a week, we would go to Leadville for a shower at the high school. The ride to Leadville in the back of the trucks was a pretty hairy, scarier than Vietnam.

My unit, 38th Infantry, 2nd Div. rebuilt Camp Hale during the winter of 1947. We put up the tents, messhalls and latrines for our Special Battalion which trained there. View our web site, and do leave some comments.
