Nice to have a look at your site again, maybe someday in the future there will be something new added to either "other sleds" or "home brew" ;)

I was "Test Pilot" and ran/tested some of the snowmobiles produced at the ashland wi factory (Uncle Toivo Ovaska was foreman) in 1965/1966, they sure could take a beating, I ran hell out of them on John Suni Farm / Gorge and then took them up to the Brunsweiler River Gorge and gave them one hell of a beating, I was one wild man back then and nothing ever went fast enough to suit me... Great Machines for their time... years Later Bob Peltonen built a machine using a 3 cylinder water buffalo engine, I rode it at his area in Superior Wi, 130 miles per hour yes we are / were crazy, no doubt. It was all fun then, too bad I am 73 now, I never drive faster than 160 any more, slowing down..

I was born and raised and still live in Ashland, Wisconsin. I remember the Vikings being made in a plant not too far from our home. In fact, when I was 12 years old my parents purchased and we moved into the home of the owner of the plant where the Viking snowmobiles were made in Ashland. Our family has over 20 snowmobiles, the oldest being a Bolens Diablo Rouge. That one is a hoot! My son and I enjoy working on and restoring old sleds. I am glad to have come across your site. Question? How many colors (and what were they) did the old Vikings come in? I recall as a young boy there were quite a few.
Thanks!
