On the bright side today at the Santa Barbara Harley Dealer I saw a notice for an upcoming event in support of motorcycle clubs, “Motorcycle Clubs Are Not Street Gangs”.
Attended this event, and would you guess who was doing parking lot security, The HELLS ANGELS, that should convince people most clubs are not gangs.

Our society is constantly pounced upon by marketing. Even non fans of TV’s Sons of Anarchy and Gangland get inundated with the bad boy outlaw stigma of Motorcycle Clubs. That stigma might be perversely cool but in reality it sucks. I wonder how deep that MC profiling sinks into John Q Public?
On the bright side today at the Santa Barbara Harley Dealer I saw a notice for an upcoming event in support of motorcycle clubs, “Motorcycle Clubs Are Not Street Gangs”.
The event is advertised as: A benefit to support Motorcycle Clubs Defense Fund.
Date: November 22 starts at Noon
Location: Santa Barbara Harley-Davidson, 3501 Via Real, Carpenteria
Donation: $20 includes BBQ lunch & live music
Info: 805 745-1911, ask for Jed.

Tomorrow is my last day in the fire service. After 39 years of one helluva ride, it's time to hang up my helmet. Looking forward to the freedom, but even more, looking forward to the freedom to ride more often. What a great career we have. Try your best not to take it for granted. There are a lot of folks out there who drive to work every day with frowns on their faces. I drove (or rode) to work every day with a smile on mine. That alone is worth the journey.
Ride like hell, but watch out for the cagers...
