Comments: Hi I have a few questions...i have never tanned anything before any as far as skinning goes, I have held onto a leg while someone else skinned the deer, to make a long story short, i have recently received 2 hides from local hunters...I wasn't sure how to start "processing them" so I rolled them up and put them in the freezer. I did not put salt on them will they still be usable when they are thawed? Also where did you get the sinew and can I make a stretching frame out of old 2 x4's? Your site is very informative I am just a little uncertain and maybe a little scared to just jump in and start. How much "material"needs to be removed from the non hair side of the hide? is this best done in a frame or on a flat surface? Thanks for sharing your information on tanning!! :) Sincerely,
Confused on how to start
