Comments: I am the great-granddaughter of William Francis Hickey of the L company, 12th NY Cavalry.
He enlisted at age 18, 22 Sep 1863, as a Private, in Buffalo, NY. He was made a Full Corporal on 19 Nov 1863.
He was mustered out at Raleigh, NC on 19 July 1865. He is buried at Forest Lawn Cemetery at Buffalo, NY in the GAR section: 14, Lot 1, Grave # 478. Died: 28 Apr. 1926, Buffalo, NY, born: 5 Jun 1846, New York state, at Geneva, Ontario co., or at Buffalo, NY.
He married twice: (1) Sarah Ann Ernestine Feasler (2) Catherine Elizabeth Johnson.

Comments: My GGG Grandfather was Riley Moore who served with the 12th. I think he lied about his age, as all census records claim his age as being younger then the 18 years he claims to be when he signed up. What an adventure!
