Comments: How refreshing to see someone who understands the merits of playing cornet! I own both a trumpet and cornet, and it's surprising to find out that I naturally end up playing different things on each of them. Sort of, the instrument decides for me! One good thing about the lack of popularity of the cornet in North America is that we can find them really cheap on auction sites or used instruments dealers, compared to trumpets. Nevertheless, a cornet sure is a conversation piece when playing with trumpetists. The wrap and large bell usually get everybody's attention. The mellow sound too!
Long live the cornet!
