Whilst working as a bar manager in Leeds in 1997/8 when Gomez were unsigned and were still called Barfly, Tom approached me, as he and the rest of the band used to drink there more or less every evening, and requested that they could play an acoustic gig at the bar. I asked them to let me have a demo tape and Ian produced one the next day telling me it was recorded in the drummers garage. He told me I could keep the tape as one day they were going to be "bigger than Oasis". The gig went ahead and there were very good. Well, I still have this tape and and from what I can make out it has quite a few tracks on it from their first Album. If you check out the following link www.2-4-7-music.com/newsitems/april02/gomez.asp you will see that it is actually refered to on a piece about Ian. As I said earlier I am not a big fan and have decided to put this original tape on Ebay on Monday 11th April 2005 because I feel it would be far better in the hands of a real Gomez fan who will appreciate it more than me, so if you are interested please put in a bid.
