Like you, I am a huge fan of "Interview with the Vampire." I even tried out as an extra for the movie, which was partially shot in New Orleans, Louisiana. I didn't make it, but a friend of mine did and can be seen in several shots of the movie.
I think this movie is great because of its originality - you don't see many films of this subject, especially during this time period, that takes place in this part of the U.S. It's decadently dark, yet mesmorizing. I'm in love with everything about it. So much so that I even got married under those 300-year old Spanish Oaks from Louis' plantation "Ponte du Lac," which in reality is called Oak Alley Plantation. It was so awesome saying my vows in such a palatial place. Right before my wedding, a small fox ran across the alley of trees with a squirrel in its mouth. AND, before that, a 6 foot long snake fell from one of the limbs of those great oaks while the photographer was taking shots of the wedding party. (He even took a snap shot of it for me.) This might have horrified the average bride; however, I'm a nature freak who was honored to have these wonderful creatures attend.
If you ever get the chance, you should definitely make your way to Louisiana (USA) and check out this swampy, erotically beautiful place. |
